Our Mission

is to promote diversity in our changing communities through multicultural symbols and relationships to images by using a blend of ballet, modern and jazz techniques intertwined with traditional African motifs channeling awareness and understanding in the messages of each work.

Residencies and Dance Concerts

Janet Reed and Dancers are available for full length concerts and residencies which may include performance, master classes in Contemporary African dance, modern and jazz techniques and choreography.  The commissioning of this fine company will allow you to promote culture in your community or school as well as creating a venue for positive visiblity in black dance.

 Master classes and Workshops

  • Community Dance Workshops.  All Levels. Class based onContemporary African dance, jazz and popular  dance  movement. This workshop facilitates community through movement in a light, high energy setting.  Live drums or recorded music according to availability.  The workshop is structured for the fun of dance. 1 1/2 to 2 hrs session.
  • Master class/RepertoryWorkshop/Company. Professional and pre-professional dancers.  intense technique with movement phrases from repertoire and newly created works in progress. 1-3 hrs.
  • Available for On-School-Time workshops for elementary and secondary education programs. 40-50 minute sessions.
  • Beginner and intermediate workshops -exploratory movement combined with beginning technique focusing on balance, coordination and rhythm. 1-2hrs.

Janet Reed and Dancers are dedicated to providing classes upon request in Contemporary African and Modern Dance.
