Experience this company's energy and vibrancy.  Janet Reed and Dancers was formally named in 1998 after the culmination of their first concert and over 40 works created by artistic director Janet Reed. To preserve her works, Janet developed an outlet for local dancers through training, repertoire and performance. The dynamics in movement, emotion and energy bring together the spirit of dance in unique and inviting forms.  Growing from a three to now eight member company, Janet Reed and Dancers has performed throught New York State.

Ms. Reed is an Associate Professor of Dance at Buffalo State College and is an associate director of Buffalo City Ballet Company.  She has won several awards in choreography from the New York State Council on the Arts, The Barbara Demming Memorial Fund for Women, Erie County Initiative Grant, the Arts Council of Buffalo and in 2002-2003, the New York Foundation of the Arts. Ms Reed has performed solos for the International Choreographers Showcase in  Holland, Germany, Scotland, France and Guatemala.  Most recently, Janet traveled to Bejing,China to represent Buffalo State College at Capital Normal University.  Ms. Reed performed with colleagues Dr. Bejamin Christy and Dr. Bryan Boyce in a music/ dance concert and she led a Master class with 65 students the following day.  Reed's style is a blend of ballet, modern and jazz techniques intertwined with traditional African motifs.
